Pearls

Cultured pearls are one of the few precious gemstones that come from the sea. Unlike other gemstones, the pearl is created by a living creature - an oyster. Pearls posses a shimmering iridescence, luster and soft inner glow unlike any other gem on earth.

Unlike oceanic cultured pearls, Freshwater cultured pearls are not produced by an oyster at all. Most freshwater cultured pearls are farmed in varieties of freshwater mussels. Each shell can produce up to 100 pearls simultaneously.
